Ok, first of all, is “Game of Thrones” like 9000 pages long?! That would have been nice for someone to point out when I mentioned I was interested in reading it. I’m looking at you, Kindle! I don’t want to know what percent of the book I’ve already read, just tell me what freaking page I’m on. And no, 3,844 of 12,735 doesn’t really help me. It exhausts me. Never once have I said “I’ll just stick this bookmark in here at 45% until I can read another 7% tomorrow.” No. I feel like this used to be a setting somewhere in the Kindle app, but I can’t find it for the life of me.
Secondly, can I get a warning when you’re about to kill or nearly kill one of my favorite characters? At least “The Walking Dead” makes me hate people before they kill them off. I’m afraid for every female, child, and animal in this book now because no one seems to be safe.
And finally, whaaaaaat the heck, why do I like this book SO much?! In the beginning I went back and forth a little bit. It took me a few chapters to really get into it, but now I can’t put it down. Kindle tells me I’m only at 30%, but I feel like I’ve been reading it for hours. Although, 30% of A LOT is still a big chunk of pages.
I thought it would be too fantasy-like for me, but most of it is actually very believable (so far?). There is a little bit of mystery involved, which I like, and you get to see the point-of-view of several characters which are all really well-developed. I’m considering starting the TV series, but I always seem to like the books better, so I don’t know if I should bother, especially now that I know what happens. I just REALLY like it.
You know what the moral of this story is, right?
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. C’mon, you knew it was coming.
Also, I really want a direwolf.
